Description
This is such a light rose’, it was almost called “White Cinsaut”. With an exotic, citrusy beeswax perfume, it has no sweetness, despite a rich, juicy mouthfeel and soft, round flavors of melon and yellow/pink stone fruit. Dark, earthy undertones.
The Certified Organic grapes came from Moonshadow Vineyards in the Estrella District of Paso Robles.
Cinsault is associated with the Languedoc in France but it’s sort of Rhone, slightly Bordeaux, and is an approved Chateauneuf du Pape grape. It is also grown in Africa – used in Bordeaux-style blends in the North, but it has become one of the signature grapes in South Africa where the ‘l’ was dropped from the name and it became the one of the progenitors of THE South African Pinotage. It has also been known as Black Malvoisie in California.
